For the past decade, Woodland Christian has had one of the top small school girls volleyball teams in the region, and Thursday evening at the Pavilion at U.C. Davis the tradition continued.
No. 2 seed Woodland Christian did just about everything right in a 3-0 sweep of No. 8 Le Grand in the Division V section championship.
A dominant 25-13 first set victory was the easiest win of the match for Woodland Christian (21-12), before taking the final two sets 25-19 and 25-20.
The path to a section title proved to be more challenging for the Cardinals of Woodland Christian.
A 3-1 win over Bradshaw Christian (3-1) in round two, was followed by a 3-2 win over Modesto Christian in the semi-final.
It was Le Grand's first appearance in a Sac-Joaquin Section girl's volleyball section championship, but for the Cardinals of Woodland Christian it was their seventh section title appearance and their fourth section title.
